What is the difference between Foothill Learning Center, Head Start, and all other LAUSD Preschools?

Foothill Learning Center is a private preschool program that has the flexibility to create our own individualized program within the California state preschool curriculum model. Head Starts are publicly funded programs that must adhere to federal guidelines including income guidelines, specific ages, and open timeframes. LAUSD preschools are publicly funded programs open to children that live within the boundaries of a particular school. Each LAUSD preschool is different depending on the home school a child is assigned to.

What would my child learn at Foothill Learning Center?

Our curriculum is based on the California

Preschool Program Guidelines set by the California Department of Education. Families can access these guidelines via the California Preschool Curriculum Frameworks (https://www.cde.ca.gov/sp/cd/re/psframework.asp) and the California Preschool Learning Foundations (https://www.cde.ca.gov/sp/cd/re/psfoundations.asp).

Our program assesses the needs of each child and creates a strengths-based approach to learning.

What does Foothill Learning Center offer that is different from other preschools?

our program offers S.T.E.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) classes, a computer lab, P.E (Physical Education) with an emphasis on gross motor development, music and dance exploration, and child development support. We strive to help children become lifelong learners.
